In the 1940s: President Roosevelt signed an order making discrimination illegal in defense contracting. 1954: The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Brown v. Board of Education that separate but equal facilities on the basis of race were unconstitutionally discriminatory. In June 2009, the Supreme Court handed down a five to four decision, in which it ruled that the city of New Haven had violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Affirmative Action, the American Economy, 2013). Simply put, any essay contents where strong contentions are typically presented for long periods build up into particular forms of controversy. Hence, they are generally considered highly polemical pieces of essay. The reason for this is that people have varied ideas and opinions regarding topics that are contentious, debatable or disputable. Controversial essays polarize people to raise powerful arguments in favor of or against any issues. This results from concepts or ideas that have distinct viewpoints, which comprise any specific contexts. Most people are good in writing this type of essay mainly because they follow these basic ideas underlying any controversial essay topics, as follows: First, you will not find any comprehensive guidelines of composing controversial essay topics, but only opinionated views. Subjective topics and observations in crafting articles generally generate controversies but primarily entirely relative. They ensure first if a particular article is a personal essay, opinion piece, news report, persuasive article or thingamajig. Even so, be ready to be disputed and/or corrected. Third, be sensitive to your readers. Keep this in mind when writing: Know whom you are addressing or target audience. Keep the readers’ interest and concentrate on the end results. Ask yourself some of these questions: What is your objective as an essayist? Is your essay a controversial article, news items, or persuasive in nature? Provide only correct factual observations even when you are trying to be creative explaining some theories. Readers can be offended or even annoyed with a contentious topic; yet, this does not constitute injurious expressions or offensive practice in the slightest form. Remember, as a writer, you’ve the right to contradict or denounce unfair remarks. As such, obnoxious content should never be tolerated. On the other hand, your readers can consider forgoing your piece, talk about it, or disregard it altogether. That could be their decision. Nevertheless, no writer should be abused. Excessive prejudicial opinions and hateful bashing need to be dealt with judiciously. Injurious activities are unacceptable and no readers or author owns a right to damage or harm another person. In summary, if you choose to create controversial essay topics, yours may result in serious debates requiring supporting evidences. Really, you need profoundly, sensitive understanding of proper argumentation to deal mainly with opinionated essays, which are simply and entirely subjective any way you view them. This means that the model is of little practical value. b) Illustrate with a diagram and explain the short-run perfectively competitive equilibrium for both (i) the individual firm and (ii) the industry; c) Illustrate with a diagram and explain the long-run perfectly competitive equilibrium for the firm. 4. In what ways could a monopoly be (a) more efficient (b) less efficient than several firms competing against each other? Discuss this statement with the use of appropriate diagrams.Question 5a) Outline a micro-economic reform issue that is relevant to the Australian economy i.e. why has there been reform in this industry or market? b) How successful do you think these reform measures were and say why referring to some data or research that has been performed. Answer 1. a) Cost bends are drawn with the amount of a particular item along the straight hub and cash cost on the vertical. Under this supposition, the bends can be translated to relate either to the business overall, or to a delegate firm. They can speak to the aggregate expense of the amount, the normal (every unit) cost, or the minor expense. For the short-run, aggregate and normal expenses can be separated into the bit thinking about the sum spent elements of generation whose amounts can be differed, and the parcel reflecting the drawn expenses of the settled variables of creation. The short-run expense bends are typically focused around a creation capacity with one variable component of generation that shows first expanding and afterward diminishing peripheral profit. Expanding small gainfulness is connected with the adversely inclined parcel of the peripheral expense bend, while diminishing minimal profit is connected with the decidedly slanted part. The normal changed expense (AFC) ben d is the expense of the settled element of creation partitioned by the amount of units of the yield, while the normal variable expense (AVC) bend expense follows out the every unit expense of variable component of generation. The U-molded normal total expense (ATC) bend is determined by including the normal altered and variable expenses. The negligible expense (MC) crosses both the AVC and ATC bends at their base focuses. Declining normal aggregate expenses are clarified as the consequence of spreading the altered expenses over more noteworthy amounts and, at low amounts, the aftereffect of the expanding negligible profit, moreover. Expanding normal expenses happen when the impact of declining negligible benefit overpowers the impact of distribution the settled expenses. Drawn together on one graph, expense bends can seem overwhelming to understudies of financial aspects, and even their educators can experience issues separating them in a justifiable manner. b) The long-run expense bends, generally displayed in a different graph, are likewise communicated most usually in their normal, or every unit, structure, spoke to here in Figure. The long-run normal expense (LRAC) bend is indicated to be a covering of the short-run normal expense (SRAC) bends, lying all over the place beneath or digression to the short-run bends. The firm is compelled in the shortrun in selecting the ideal blend of variables of generation along these lines will never have the capacity to discover a less exclusive blend than can be found over the long haul when there are no imperatives. On account of consistent comes back proportional; the most well-known suspicion for creation works, the LRAC bend is even. In the event that it is the situation that a bigger size of generation is acquired through expanding the quantity of impossible to tell apart plants, and afterward the long-run expense bend approaches an even line as the quantity of plants expands that seems to b e, the creation capacity will show "asymptotic-first-degree-homogeneity". Long-run normal expense bends that are all over the place diminishing will emerge in businesses with a substantial settled expense and steady variable expenses. Generally, withdrawing long-run expense bends have been connected with regular syndications. c) Total changed expense is now and then called settled expense. In the event that you work a plant, you must high temperature the building to keep the channels from solidifying in the winter. Regardless of the fact that no creation is occurring, you may need to keep the top from spilling, pay a watchman to protect the building from vandals, and make installments on a long haul lease. There may additionally be protection premiums, assessments, and city charges to pay, and in addition contract commitments to specialists. developed expenses speak to a bigger bit of aggregate expenses for a few firms than for others. Normal altered expense (AFC) is aggregate settled expense (TFC) separated by the quantity of units of yield (q). Aggregate altered expenses (TFC) are those expenses that don't change with yield, regardless of the fact that yield is zero. d) In economics, average variable cost (AVC) is a firm's variable costs of labor, electricity, etc. divided by the quantity of output produced. Variable costs are those costs which vary with output. 2. In Business Economics, the short run is characterized as a period where no less than one element of creation (area, work, capital) is altered. The theory of consistent losses is a short run idea that states expanding after units of a variable component to a settled element will expand yield, yet in the long run the expansion of two yields will begin to stoppage and finally get to be negative. In the more extended run all components are variable and thus, the measure of area (long ago settled component) can be expanded to set up the increment in all different variables Most short run expense bends outline the idea of 'consistent losses' extremely well. In financial matters, unavoidable losses (likewise called decreasing peripheral returns) is the reduction in the small yield of a generation transform as the measure of a solitary variable of creation is expanded, while the measures of all different variables of generation stay consistent. The theory of consistent losses expresses th at in all gainful methodologies, including a greater amount of one component of generation, while holding all others steady ("ceteris paribus"), will sooner or later yield lower every unit returns. The theory of consistent losses does not infer that including to a greater extent an element will diminish the total generation, a condition known as negative returns, however indeed this is regular. 3. a) first, we should audit what financial components must be show in an industry with impeccable rivalry: 1. All organizations offer an indistinguishable item. 2. All organizations are value takers. 3. All organizations have a generally little piece of the pie. 4. The industry is portrayed by flexibility of section and passageway. 5. Buyer knows the nature of the product being sold and the prices charged by each firms. These five necessities infrequently exist together in any one industry accordingly, conclude challenge is once in a while (if at any point) trial in this present reality. Case in point, most items have some level of separation. Indeed with an item as basic as filtered water, for instance, makers fluctuate in the philosophy of refining, item size, brand personality, and so forth create, for example, crude rural items, despite the fact that they can even now disparity as far as quality, come closest to being indistinguishable, or having zero separation. 3. b) i) Perfectly focused markets are uncommon in this present reality; there are three imperative explanations behind creating an exhaustive understanding of their conduct. Impeccable rivalry is an industry with numerous firms, each one offering an indistinguishable decent; numerous purchasers; no limitations on section into the business; no preference for existing firms over new firms; and venders and purchasers are decently educated about costs. Impeccable rivalry happens when the base proficient size of a firm is little in respect to request. The base effective size of a firm is the littlest amount of yield at which the long-run normal aggregate expense is grinding away's most minimal level. ii) We can best see how the business supply bend rises up out of individual maker supply bends by envision that all the makers are impossible to tell apart. At a cost of more than $10, each one ranch will create the amount of yield at which its minimal expense is equivalent to the business sector cost. So if there are 100 natural tomato ranchers and the cost of natural tomatoes is $18 every bushel, the industry overall will create 500 bushels, comparing to 100 rancher's 5 bushels every agriculturist, cetera. 1. The balance business sector cost and industry harmony level of yield are dictated by the business request and supply bends. Over the long haul, the quantity of firms in the business, and their size can change. Changes in the business interest influence the cost and then the organizations' benefits. The neighborhood of a financial benefit implies that over the long haul new firms enter the business; the vicinity of a monetary hardship implies that inevitably some current firms retreat. At the point when firms procure an ordinary benefit, there is no motivation to enter or passageway. Economic benefits bring section by new firms. The business supply bend shifts rightward and decreases the business cost. The fall in cost lessens financial benefit and declines the motivator to enter the business. Economic misfortune lead to passageway by existing firms, which moves the business supply bend leftward. The value climbs, and the higher cost lessens financial misfortunes. Firms retreat u ntil no organizations cause a financial. 4. a) An unregulated syndication has business sector control and can impact costs. The key distinction between a very well focused firm and a restrictive infrastructure is that the aggressive firm confronts a level interest bend, on the grounds that it can offer as much as it needs at the business sector cost. This implies that this current association's activities can impact the cost. Not a value taker. Reasons for obstructions to section: Key asset possessed by single firm. Costs of generation make a private maker more effective than huge number. b) In monopolistic rivalry there are numerous firms yet not the huge quantities of unadulterated rivalry. The items are separated, not institutionalized. There is some control over cost in a limited reach, though the absolutely focused firm has none. There is generally simple passage; in unadulterated rivalry, section is totally without hindrances. In immaculate rivalry, there is no non-value rivalry. In perfect syndication there is stand out firm. Its item is extraordinary and there are no nearby substitutes. In monopolistically focused commercial ventures financial benefits are contended away over the long haul; henceforth, there is no legitimate motivation to censure the execution and proficiency of such businesses. Its publicizing is generally for advertising. Item separation may well just be subjective depending on each person's preferences; however that is all the monopolistic contender needs to pick up favorable element in the business gave, obviously, the customer looks upon the expected contrast absolutely. The genuine contrasts can be in quality, in administrations, in area, or even in advancement and bundling, which brings us again to where we began: conceivably nonexistent contrasts. To the degree that item separation exists truth be told or in the brain of the purchaser, monopolistic contenders have some restricted control over cost, for they have developed some dependability to their image. 5 a) Profit development multiplied in the 1990s to achieve a record high. A scope of conceivable clarifications for the profit surge is analyzed in the paper. The three most possible are microeconomic changes; training and abilities in the workforce; and the quick uptake and keen utilization of data and interchanges innovations. To a certain degree, these three elements have associated. The surge in profit development has underpinned development in normal wages that is solid by both provable and global models. Australia's rate of gainfulness development was relatively frail over the greater part of the twentieth century. Governments hence exchanged this high profit position for 'national improvement' as, with broad well known help, they empowered populace development, enhancement of the financial base and redeployment of salary through a set of arrangements that had the (maybe unintended) outcome of keeping down development in gainfulness and living measures. b) This paper presents a structure for significant adolescent equity framework change the incorporation of a forward looking authoritative model with confirmation based programming. The regulatory model is sorted out around danger administration and danger reduction went for ensuring general society by minimizing recidivism. Confirmation based writing computer programs is sorted out around administrations that direct criminogenic danger elements and improve versatile working for the treated guilty parties. Arrangements are guided by a manner lattice that backings individualized manner plans and is composed around the danger levels and treatment needs of guilty parties as surveyed by observationally approved instruments. A cluster of viable projects is underpinned that gives sufficient differences to permit matching with guilty parties' requirements. This show of projects is incorporated with a continuum of graduated levels of supervision and control so guilty parties can be ventures up the stepping stool and set in all the more profoundly organized system situations if conduct compounds and ventures down when there is change. Evolution and Planet Earth essays

Evolution and Planet Earth essays For some unknown reason, the belief that human beings came from monkeys has been a translation of the theory of evolution. This is one of the biggest misconceptions in the many myths regarding evolution. Evolution is a process that explains why life on Earth looks the way it does today. It provides a theoretical look at the changes that life, as we know it has undergone. Over time, plants and animals have changed and still change to adapt to their varying environments. These adaptations are a result of the catalyst of evolution known as natural selection. For any species, only the strongest and most well-adapted individuals will survive. This alone is why humans appear as they do today. Human evolution has nothing to do with the descent of humans from monkeys. Evolution has been widely discussed and heatedly argued. Although there are arguments against it, evolution has taken a strong foothold in the scientific community. Evolution has shaped and is still shaping life on Earth. However, a problem with looking at evolution is the amount of time it takes for this process to occur. Because of this, we must look at the evidence that has been found over long periods. One example is variation and change. It is evident to the naked eye that except for identical twins, which are easily explained not all living things (plants, animals, and mammals) are exactly alike. Life is constantly varying and changing to take on a form superior to its ancestors. This accounts for cattle being born with no horns, sheep with short legs, and in 1849, and a grapevine producing a new species of grapes now known as Concord. One powerful example is a new grass, formed from two species crossing, growing so quickly and efficiently it killed off its parents. Another example that favors evolution is the remains left behind in fossils. Although it is true not all living things become fossils upon death, variation and change can be viewed in fossil remains. Human memory appears to consist of a number of systems. Outline ways Essay

Human memory appears to consist of a number of systems. Outline ways in which these have been described and examine the evidence - Essay Example Neuropsychological perspective describes and classifies human memory systems using various methods. One of the approaches is classification by dissociation, where the evidence for the method is derived from clinical and experimental observations concerning the working or functioning of the memory (Tulving 2006). Using this approach, human memory consists of three interrelated subsystems namely short-term sensory storage (STSS), working or short-term memory (STM) and long-term memory (LTM). Short-term sensory storage system is fast and automatic system that stores information for a period of less than one second. The sensory system perceives and stores visual and auditory information temporarily (Tulving 2006). According to Baddeley (1997), dissociation contributes an important but insufficient condition for classifying tasks in various categories and making conclusions about memory systems and subsystems. However, credible evidence supporting the multiple memory systems have been pro vided by congruence of findings from experiments in neuropsychological, neurochemical and developmental studies. In context to short term and long-term memory systems, various experiments across different scientific fields have been conducted to establish their differences and the similar characteristics. The convergent element of these experiments indicate that short term and long term memories show distinct characteristics indicating that both are different but interrelated systems. The systems have different capacities, duration of storing information and they store different types of information (Cohen and Eichenbaum 2001). Short-term memory has a limited storage capacity of up to seven items or chunks. Another distinguishing characteristic of short-term memory is that information is stored for brief duration of about 30 seconds (Anderson1983). Therefore, the type of information stored in short-term memory includes visual images, words and sentences and other information that is of little significance to a person. Christian et al (2000) attributed the quick forgetting of information stored in short-term memory to displacement of the old information by incoming material. The effectiveness of short-term memory decreases with increase in age and it could be improved by chunking of information and consistent rehearsal. Experimental evidence have proved that long-term memory has unlimited capacity and the duration of storing information ranges from days to the lifetime of an individual (Christian et al, 2000). In this respect, long-term memory stores meaningful and significant events and information. Baddeley (1997) noted that information stored in long-term memory is mainly forgotten due to interference and poor organization of the stored material. The ability to store and recall information in the long-term memory depends on the age, and it is poorest in children below three years and old people. Neuropsychologists have further classified long-term memory int o distinct but interrelated systems. These systems include episodic, procedural and semantic memory (Tulving, 2006). Although the classification has elicited criticism from some theorists, it has enabled b better understanding of the structure and the functioning of human memory. According to Christian et al (2000), episodic memory is the highest memory system and it

Employment-At-Will Case Essay Example for Free

Employment-At-Will Case Essay Case Example A: Elaine has sued Jerry because Jerry fired her. Elaine was on the job for two months. The job offer letter that Jerry had sent her mentioned the great career opportunities at the company and stated that her annual salary would be $30,000. The company is an employment†at†will employer. Elaine was given no reason for the termination. After the termination, Jerry hired a man named Kramer, who had less job experience and education than Elaine, for the position. Elaine has sued to get her job back. There are legal issues in case example A. These issues will need to be brought up and answered before any decision can be made over this case. A letter was sent to Elaine. Could this be considered a contract? If not, was there a contract involved? If there was a contract involved, is it an executory contract or is it not valid at all? This is an employment-at-will employer, does the employer really need to give a reason for the termination? Ethics in business play a big role in today’s society. Could ethics have been violated by the employer? Is this discrimination against Elaine? Did the employer lower Elaine in to this business with lies to gain something from her? Is this an intentional misrepresentation or fraud? Did Elaine have a certain skill that the employer needed and after the employer got what he needed he fired her? These are short legal questions that will need to be further studied. Elaine’s argument contains legal rules to support her claim. There is printed evidence that can definitely help out Elaine. The job offer letter states that there are great CAREER opportunities at the company. A career is defined as more than a simple job. It is a major part of a person’s life. A job usually last a couple of months. A career is thought of lasting for more than a couple of years. The fact that the term â€Å"career† was used in the letter, it is assumed that this is going to be something more than just a â€Å"job† Another word that was used is annual. The annual salary was said to be $30,000. The term â€Å"annual† also implies that the career that the employer is offering is something that is  long term and not just a two month job. The plaintiff can argue that these were the conditions that were used when she was hired. She sought out this job because she was offered great career opportunities but was never given the â€Å"career† or the opportunity to make $30,000 annually. This could be classified under intentional misrepresentation or fraud because the plaintiff was brought into the business with false statements. Something else that Elaine can argue is that she was discriminated. After she was fired, she was replaced by a man that had less job experience and a lower education than Elaine. Elaine might have been let go because of her sex. This could be a violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The defendant also has a valid argument that he can dispute. This business is an employment at will employer. This means that the employee can be let go at any time for any reason. Elaine knew that this was an employment at will. When she read the letter and accepted the job, she also accepted all the conditions that came along with it. The plaintiff knew that she could be fired any time. This is the defendant’s argument. Based on facts and legal laws, the judge can look over the evidence and rules and make a decision. The employment-at-will doctrine clearly states that the employer can fire the employee at any time for any reason. There are many exceptions to the employment-at-will doctrine. In this case, the tort exception and statutory exception can be applied in favor of the plaintiff. The tort exception states that the employee can sue an employer for fraud. Based on the letter Elaine received, she never was given what she was promised. The employer gave the future employee false statements regarding receiving $30,000 annually. The employer also made the employee believe that this was a career when it clearly lasted no more than two months. This is classified under fraud. The statutory exception will be the main exception in this case. The statutory exception states that â€Å"Title VII and other federal state antidiscrimination laws prohibit employers from engaging in race, sex, religious, age, handicap, or other forms of discrimination†. Right after Elaine was fired, a man was hired for that same position with less work experience and a lower education. This is evidence that Elaine was discriminated based on her sex. An employee who was wrongfully discharged can sue the employer for damages. Therefore the plaintiff will win the case. The legal rules that currently apply are fair and reasonable.  Employment-at-will employers exist because in some jobs, the employer needs that flexibility in order to respond to any changes or needs. Sometimes it is necessary to let employees go but the employer should never forget the laws of business and also ethics. Also, adding exceptions like statutory exception and tort exception to this doctrine helps protect employees in case they are ever treated unfair or are ever taken advantage by their employer. The rules that are currently set for now are fair and reasonable and should not be violated. Work Cited Cheeseman, H. R. The legal environment of business and online commerce. (Custom ed.).

Salem Witch Trials Essay -- essays research papers

The Salem witch trials began with the accusation of people in Salem of being witches. But the concept of witchcraft started far before these trials and false accusations occurred. In the early Christian centuries, the church was relatively tolerant of magical practices. Those who were proved to have engaged in witchcraft were required only to do penance. But in the late Middle Ages (13th century to 14th century) opposition to alleged witchcraft hardened as a result of the growing belief that all magic and miracles that did not come unambiguously from God came from the Devil and were therefore manifestations of evil. Those who practiced simple sorcery, such as village wise women, were increasingly regarded as practitioners of diabolical witchcraft. They came to be viewed as individuals in league with Satan. Nearly all those who fell under suspicion of witchcraft were women, evidently regarded by witch-hunters as especially vulnerable to the Devil’s blandishments. A lurid picture of the activities of witches emerged in the popular mind, including covens, or gatherings over which Satan presided; pacts with the Devil; flying broomsticks; and animal accomplices, or familiars. Although a few of these elements may represent leftovers of pre-Christian religion, the old religion probably did not persist in any organized form beyond the 14th century. The popular image of witchcraft, perhaps inspired by features of occultism or ceremonial magic as well as by theology concerning the Devil and his works of darkness, was given shape by the inflamed imagination of inquisitors and was confirmed by statements obtained under torture. The late medieval and early modern picture of diabolical witchcraft can be attributed to several causes. First, the church’s experience with such dissident religious movements as the Albigenses and Cathari, who believed in a radical dualism of good and evil, led to the belief that certain people had allied themselves with Satan. As a result of confrontations with such heresy, the Inquisition was established by a series of papal decrees between 1227 and 1235. Pope Innocent IV authorized the use of torture in 1252, and Pope Alexander IV gave the Inquisition authority over all cases of sorcery involving heresy, although local courts carried out most actual prosecution of witches. At the same time, other developments created a climate in which alle... ...urse was accused as well, but found not guilty in the trial. Over 40 friends and neighbors testified in her favor, telling of her good faith and character. But the verdict from the jury caused such an outcry of fear, that the jury was asked to re-consider and she was then found guilty and hung. Mary Esty, Rebecca Nurses sister was also accused of being a witch, but she argued her case so well and in such a convincing manner, that the girls relented and she was found not guilty. She was released, a first in the witch-trials, but before long she was arrested once again on the claim that the girls had been haunted by her ghost. She was convicted and hung on September 22, 1692. Although all of the "witches" were hung, a certain man named Giles Cory was killed in a traditional English manner. He was pressed, pressing was where they would place heavy stones on a person till they died. Cory died two days later, crushed. 25 lives were taken during these Salem trials. 19 "w itches" were hung at Gallows hill. One was tortured to death by pressing. And five others died in prison, including an infant. The Salem witch trials were mainly caused by these two girls imagination.

Partnership transportation Essay

Partnership transportation in broad mind means involvement of all parties in the running and operations of transportation and its impact, retrieved from a journal on â€Å"facilitating partnership in transportation (2005) page 7 and 8†, by James A Merchant and Barbara T Harder. Transportation and maintenance is a work done by local government and the state in collaboration with other partners. Partnership transportation involves integration of various bodies in the transport sector. Partnership in transportation sector can be classified into two categories. First there is incorporation of all means of transport, this include pipeline transportation method, railway transportation method, airway, shipment, road transportation methods. Second, there is integration of private companies and people that own the vehicles, marine ships, airbuses and pipelines, chamber of commerce and industry that has the potential human resource powers to innovate new technologies that enhance fuel saving, and other automobile associations. In transportation, no specific body that can handle transportation sector individually without cooperation of other parties as indicated by Mark Wymond-1917-178 pages in his book â€Å"Our transportation problem† ,www.worldcatlibraries.org . For example, poor management of institutional framework may deteriorate roads management, railway management etc. Poor conditions of road, railways and airports because of poor services and maintenance may be another issue of concern. Lack of defined responsibilities of each associate party, ineffective and weak management structures can also have adverse effects in the transportation sector. Lack of managerial accountability is another issue of concern; this is because transportation itself is an individual identity. Hence, there must be somebody to respond to various issues that may arise. The responsive party would include government officials and private transport cartels.   Failure due to road and railway engineers adversely affects transportation sector. The government is involved in financing public roads and other means of transportation. The government makes sure that there is rule of law that is followed. It is the work of govern to mitigate the transportation processes.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Historical background Partnership transportation resulted in manner that was not supposed to be. It dates us back to the early seventeen century when the prisoners in Victoria were being transported from various parts of the country to Australia.[1] This was an intention to punish the prisoners since there were no enough prisons to keep them. Therefore, a solution was found on to how to punish those prisoners. One of the best ways to do that was to compel the prisoners to carry out hard work, tiring jobs and boring tasks such as walking miles away to transport goods or to peak oakum.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Farming is another issue that resulted to partnership transportation. This included commercial activities occurring as transportation route; this made the construction of various transportation route e.g.   The Chin ago canals, and rail lines were developed, linking the town to other parts of the region. A tract was opened to settlers and land companies by the Clinton treaty in 1788. The growth of Hamilton town was because of stimulation by several main roads, which crossed from east to west. Therefore, there erupted a relationship between the farmers and transportation board in various countries. Transportation of farm produce resulted to growth and development of transportation sector. On the other hand, farmers benefited from easy means of accessing the markets for their produce. In the process, trading started and business thrived tremendously. This resulted to stiff competition that enabled business partners to merge and to come up with an idea to work together, this is how the partnership transportation emerged. That resulted to automobile firms that started competing on manufacturing different kinds of vehicles. Since then the technology has advanced to the manufacturing of space ships. Status: current issues, practices, developments, controversies and impact of partnership transport.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The current issues of partnership transportation include commuters and commuting society, insurance and registration, maintenance and repairs, safety and development. There is the issue of confronting the daunting challenge posed by global climatic change. The main source of green house gases like carbon dioxide is burning of fossil fuel by either through burning coals, oils, petrol, kerosene etc. Burning of fossil fuel include even idling. Therefore, global warming is caused by emission of green house gases that pollute the atmosphere and this go hand in hand with industrialization. It is due to industrialization that transportation is enhanced by manufacturing of automobiles. Therefore, there must be away of partnership association in combating the consequences of transportation. It is fair for industrialized countries to enhance the issue of mitigating this effect as they are the main cause.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Global warming is one of the negative impacts caused by the gas emitted by automobiles. Mainly the climatic change is usually caused by pollution that affects the ozone layer. Then the ozone layer becomes less effective in controlling the remittance of radiation from the sun. Therefore, the transport board must tackle this problem since they are part of the cause beside industrialization. In addition, this pollution has a major impact on the quality and feasibility of transit-oriented development. The current issue of concern is to mitigate fuel consumption and to avoid accidents caused by reckless driving.   Reckless driving practices can have a negative implication on automobile fuel economy. This project of training drivers can enhance fuel economy because experienced experts would save consumption. This is by using simple techniques like cruise control mechanism, pricing whenever possible, avoiding use of cab appliances, soft and gradual acceleration and progressive shifting. All these mechanisms enhance reduction of speed. Transport sector in collaboration with the traffic police; address this issue by ensuring that transport rules and regulations are adhered to. Transit connectivity plan is improved daily to enhance pediatrician walking; this makes passenger’s movement easy from one movement to another. Goods movement services should be improved to enhance cargo and freight transportation, this include transit expansion program resolution for rail, road, bus and ferry transit projects. Freight movement is essential to any economy and way of life. For example in each year in the US, automobile moved about ten billion tons of freight worth more than 7.5 trillion dollars whereby, the ground freight consumed significant energy and the sector grew as   expected. This is a development issue because over thirty five billion gallons of fuel will increase to about forty five billion by the year 2013. The ground freight industry is large and decentralized; this is because seven million freight trucks and twenty thousand locomotives are in partnership transportation in US and this is not a simple thing. Another development issue is the ongoing activities concerning pedestrians planning strategies, bicycle riders, community-based planning and development they intend to take. Controversies results due to the need of expanding the transport course, this is because expansion might lead to congestion or evacuation of some people from the intended bypass. This program’s goal is to advance the findings of the lifeline transportation network suggestion through collaboration with community organizations, transit agencies and congestion management agencies in order to minimize the dispute. Therefore, the controversies that arise due to congestion are dealt with. Other developmental plans include new means of transport being innovated to cater for the transportation needs of the countries low-income, elderly and disabled populations. For example, the community-based planning program. This program’s goal is to advance the findings of the transportation network system through collaboration Going on, there is this issue about the automotive & transportation practice and development.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   These are the some of the current practices that include the automotive and transportation practice that provides global market research for the completed automobiles. Industrial   analysis, concurrent business research which involves custom market research and consultation, market predicament, management consulting and innovation of new strategies result to emerging technologies that are designed to help transportation sector to address current trends and challenges affecting transportation sector and partnership. Another function is to identify new technologies that can lead to advantageous opportunities for growth. This work involves a   global team of automotive and transportation market research analysts, industry experts, and market  consultants who continuously monitor the automotive and transportation industry including logistics, rail systems, automotive testing, diagnostic sand new chassis technologies. In this partnership transportation, there is training for drivers to be equipped with driving dynamics. This is because, new   commercial vehicles that are being manufactured have these new technologies, for example   telemetric and infotainment, power train ,alternative propulsion, safety and   driving assistance not forgetting warning systems.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The floor is open for those wishing to join the partnership. The advantage is that there is acquiring of freight carrier innovative strategies, freight carrier commitment is enhanced through partnership, freight carrier fleet performance model are available and of course freight carrier benefits of partnership[2]. For example, truck and rail transportation provides a cost-effective means to transport much of America’s freight. Truck and rail fleets can take simple actions to make ground freight more efficient and cleaner for the environment. The following technologies and strategies can help reduce fuel consumption and emissions from freight trucks. First there is idling reduction in the engine mechanism, there is improved aerodynamics in aerial crafting, improved freight logistics. Other current developments include, tire technology that involve automatic tire inflation systems of which tires with wide base are manufactured. In tire inflation system, there is adjustment of the level of tire pressure. This maintains proper tire pressure especially when the automobile is moving; hence facilitating longer service for the tire It is known that tires with wide base can reduce friction and resistance on the road. This would lead to saving consumption of fuel and other fuel related expenditure. Tire technologies improve on reducing accidents by stabilizing the vehicles movement and grasping on the roads. Furthermore, there is production of low-viscosity lubricants that are used in breaks and other movable parts, less viscous artificial and semi-artificial lubricants can reduce friction losses in automobile drive train, emission of gases, and its engine friction. This actually saves the fuel consumption and hence emission of harmful gases.   Going on, synthetic transmission and oil lubricants can raise fuel economy by 0.7 and 2.1 percent in summer and winter respectively. Good news is that by replacing all transmission lubricants with less viscous fluid saves fuel with less or no additional cost. Other development systems are low weight body parts. This is enhanced by sing materials made of aluminum or other lightweight materials. By reducing weight, much oil consumption can be reduced. Actually, the possibility for weight savings is even greater in the automobile. Lastly, there is use of inter modal shipping systems and hybrid power train technology advancement. In the current development systems, several technologies and practices can be used to assist drivers in reducing truck idling. A case study that was performed in one of the automobile firms show that reducing or eliminating prolonged idling of long-transit trucks can save up to one thousands gallons of fuel per truck each year. This would reduce global warming by reducing pollution emissions, and lowering the cost of engine maintenance.   Some idling reduction technologies can minimize fuel consumption through air conditioning.[3] Some of the latest technologies include reduction on fuel consumption; manufacturers have focused considerable attention on implementing new truck tractor aerodynamics systems. By so doing they have achieved significant gains in fuel efficiency and reduction.   To improve efficiency in fuel consumption, improved freight logistics can enhance achieving the goal which include improved operation efficiency, saving fuel and increasing benefits and profits for automobile companies.   Some of the current diplomatic strategies include load scrutiny and matching, more efficient coursing and scheduling of automobiles, and improved working policies. There is use of software to structure more efficient automobile routes. [4] Social, economic and environmental aspect   There is a suggestion for long lasting solutions that would address social aspects, economic aspects, and environmental aspects. The suggestion involves a lifeline transportation program that works with local agencies to improve access to public transit for new entrants to the job market. For example, regional rail plan is helping develop a bay area regional rail plan to improve the current rail system, map out future rail lines and station locations, and integrate passenger and freight from rail sharing on existing tracks. Another example is the suggestion for a smart growth and transportation for livable communities bay area.[5] The communities should embrace the idea by getting a little tender loving care from partnership transportation, in the form of initiatives to foster pedestrian-friendly development and travel options such as walking, bicycling and public transit. [6]   It is visible that Urban Partnership Program proposal to deliver congestion reduction by 2009 through a bold program combing the affiliated parties and experts concerned in tolling, advanced technology, transit and transportation if effective will address some controversies. The current controversies affecting the transportation sector include lack of agreement on terms of scrutiny. There are two controversy terms, that define the impact of partnership transportation i.e. there is technical controversy that defines failure due to decision of an expert appointed by the parties and non-technical controversy that deals with the rules and regulations. The latter, involves bleaching of the contract that involves disputes arrangement on investment. This happened in an oil transportation controversy whereby they wanted the project to be concerned in establishing standards service for the future, rather than examining current controversies about work programmed.   Overcrowding and reliability is also another negative impact caused by partnership transportation. This is a sensitive issue in transportation that require more detailed hearing to solve the pending problems   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Some of these pending issues include, perceived transport problems, factors influencing travel behavior, transport licensing board service provision, infrastructure schemes, partnership approaches and innovative solution. [7]Other development measures currently undertaken include expansion of airports and upgrading to an international level. For example, Durango la Plata county airport is expected to undertake some upgrading changes in the coming years[8]. Some of Strategies to facilitate development could include expansion of the planning area, code requirements for aviation easements, and establishment of requirements for special construction on lands adjacent to the airport. Retrieved from www.laplatacountycolorado.org Conclusion Partnership transport is a broad business operation that currently integrates all areas of work. It has enabled the world to be seen as a global village. In essence, partnership transports easies the work of transportation and collaboration in the sector and other chambers of commerce.   However, the controversies and negative effects should be dealt with immediately when they arise. Safer means of transport should be innovated to avoid negative impact such as pollution to the environment, air pollution and water pollution. Therefore, it is of great importance to associate all stakeholders in transportation sector e.g. oil companies should manufacture lead free fuel to lessen the negative impact caused by the fuel.   Actually, the engine life and service is directly related to the amount of fuel burned. In essence, the reduction of driving speed can minimize the cost of repairing the engine. The maximum automobile driving speeds can be minimized through electronic software engine controlling mechanism, improved driver-training programs, or I house programs that motivate drivers for abiding with the rules and regulations. Almost, all new automobile engines in use today are electronically manipulated and the cost of changing the highest acceleration setting on these engines is to some extent negligible. The stated mechanisms, developments and resolutions to partnership transportation are the currents undertaking towards strengthening of the transport sector.    References: Current developments in airport expansion, retrieved on 25th August 2007, available at www.laplatacountycolorado.org Current undertakings on transportation sector, retrieved on 29th August 2007, available at www. emeraldinsight.com Fleet strategies, retrieved on 29th August 2007, available at http://www.epa.gov/otaq/smartway/smartway_fleets_strategies.htm James A Merchant and Barbara (2005) Transportation: Facilitating partnership transportation, page 7 and 8 New York Transport scrutiny update, retrieved on 25th August 2007, available at www. Meat Tenderizer Essay

Which type of meat will tenderize most using cola drinks? Aim: -To help Namibians use a cheaper, easier and always available type of meat tenderizer. Hypothesis: Beef will tenderize most. Background: In my research,†Phosphoric Acid†, the main ingredient of cola drinks, is assumed to be of high enough concentration to deteriorate a piece of meat. So in this experiment, I want to prove if cola drinks can tenderize meat and what type of meat can it tenderize most. Plan: The plan is to come up with my researches and seek help from others. Then, I have to understand every single step from the start until the end, to reach to my conclusions. -Variables * The independent variable in this experiment is the kind of meat using: * BEEF * PORK * CHICKEN * The controlled variables are the following: * Cola drink’s quantity * Meat’s weight * Bowl’s size Meetings & Discussions: At first, I researched for experiments that can be done and I ask myself how cola drinks can clean rust and by that I found out that it was because of phosphoric acid. So, that brought me up to the idea of this experiment. Time Schedule: 5PM| Start of experiment| | Midnight| Observance| Recorded and investigated| 8AM-NEXT DAY| observance| Investigated| 10AM- NEXT DAY| Observance| Research and recorded| 5PM-NEXT DAY| Results| Recorded | *The experiment was 24hrs. Controls: -The meat has the same grams. -The same number of hours on the meat used. -The same amount of Coke poured on the meat. Material & Apparatus used: 1. Meat: 60grams of Pork, beef and chicken 2. 330 ml can of cola (3cans). 3. Bowls of the same kind and size. 4. Weighing scale 5. Chopping board and knife Experimental Work: -Weigh the meat separately. The scale of the meat should be 60 grams. Place the meat in bowls. Observe the colour, smell and texture. -With a help, add the 330 ml coke in each meat at the same time. -Observe what happens every time you see it. -Final observance is after 24 hours. -After 24 hours, observe the colour, smell, scale and texture. -Take out all the meat from the bowl and use a chopstick to feel, what meat is the softens (tenderize). Further Invest igations: -At first I had salmon. : I changed it to chicken. -The weighing scale was not working properly. : We bought a new one. -We added 2 cups of coke only, which was really little : We used 330 ml can of cola. Evaluation/Reflection: -I should have compared 4-5 meats, instead of 3 only. -I should have made the correct amount of cola(Exact amount). -I should have made the right scale. Results: 5PM: (START OF EXPERIMENT) 1-Most 2-More/Medium 3-Least MEAT| APPEANCE OF BUBBLES AFTER PORING| FLOAT| SMELLS LIKE -| COLOUR| Pork| 1| 3| Cola| Light Red/Pink| Beef| 3| 2| Cola| Red| Chicken| 2| 1| Cola| Light Pink| MIDNIGHT: MEAT| APPEARANCE OF BUBBLES| Pork| 1| Beef| 3| Chicken| 2| AROUND 8AM (THE NEXT DAY): -Pork sank. 10AM: N. B. Sedimentation is the process by which particles in suspension in liquid form sediment. Sediment is a material, originally suspended in a liquid, that settles at the bottom of the liquid when it is left standing for a long time. MEAT| SEDIMENTATION| Pork| 1| Beef| 2| Chicken| 3| RESULTS AT 5PM: N. B. Supernatant is usually a clear liquid above material deposited by sedimentation, precipitation, or centrifugation. MEAT| SUPERNATANT(CLEAR)| SEDIMENTS| TOP BUBBLES| Pork| 1| 1| 1| Beef| 2| 2| 2| Chicken| 3| 3| 3| MEAT| SCALE AFTER EXPERIMENT| SMELL| COLOUR| Pork| 60grams| None| Lighter than before/Light brown or pink| Beef| 60grams| A little bit of cola| Pale| Chicken| 60grams| Spoiled meat| Same colour as before/Light pink| MOST TENDERIZE: PORK BEEF CHICKEN Interpretation of results: 5AM: After pouring the coke in the bowl, I observed that the pork has more bubbles than the two. The pork sank, but the chicken and beef floated. MIDNIGHT: When I checked at midnight, I saw that the coke has a lot of bubbles at the top; beef has a few, while chicken has none- only in some places of the chicken. 10AM: I observed that the cola in the pork went below the bowl (sedimentation) and the top of it was clear (supernatant). The cola in the beef was also having sediments below the bowl, but not like pork. The top of it was really blurred. The cola in the chicken has neither sedimentation nor supernatant. 5PM: I observed that the colour of the pork became lighter than the original colour. I smelled it but there was no sense of smell there. The colour of beef became pale than the original one, and the smell was a bit of cola. The colour of chicken stayed as it is and it smelled like spoiled meat. I took out all the meat from the bowls and observed†¦ I scaled it all, and the scale was the same as before- 60grams. I used a toothpick to test which type of meat was tenderize most†¦. I observed that the chicken was really hard and it seemed like it was not tenderized at all. Beef was soft at some parts, but some parts are not. I observed that pork was the softest, which means it is the most tenderized meat. Conclusions: -In this experiment pork was tenderized most because the whole part of the meat sank in a cola drink, which therefore can be a good tenderizer. Problems and Solutions: -I did not get to find out the correct scale of meat, so I researched and asked help from elderly. -I did not know the correct amount of cola, so I researched. Skills Learned: -Not being shy to seek help from others. -Continue to what I am doing before going to another work. -Manage my time. -Cola drinks can tenderize meat because of phosphoric acid/we can tenderize meat easily and cheap. -Pork was tenderized most because it was the type of meat that sank and absorbed most cola in the experiment (In this case, I disapprove with my hypothesis). Chico, Muchacho, and Other Spanish Words for Children

Chico, Muchacho, and Other Spanish Words for Children Chico, muchacho, nià ±o - and their feminine equivalents, chica, muchacha, and nià ±a - and just a few of the words you can use in Spanish to refer to children. But they arent all used in the same way. In most cases, youre safe to use any of the above words to refer to boys and girls. However, in some cases they can have more specialized uses. Using Chico and Chica As a general adjective, chico is simply a word for small, especially when referring to something that is smaller than other beings or things of its type. When it becomes a noun referring to people, however, it usually refers to someone of a young age rather than someone of short stature. The age of children used for chico and chica varies somewhat with region. However, it is often used as a term of affection for people other than children. For example, in Cuba it frequently is used to address friends, something like hey dude or buddy might be in American slang. It is also very common to use chica when referring to young, single women, especially ones in which men might be interested in for romantic purposes - something like the equivalent of babe. To a lesser extent, chico can fulfill a similar role. Similarly, the two terms commonly are used for girlfriend and boyfriend, respectively. The main characters in a movie, TV show or novel are often referred to as chico or chica, especially if they are young and attractive. Using Muchacho and Muchacha When referring to adolescents or teenagers, muchacho/a can usually be used interchangeably with chico/a. In most areas it isnt used often when referring to younger children. Muchacho/a can also be used to refer to a young servant or maid. Using Nià ±o and Nià ±a Nià ±o and nià ±a are more general and sometimes slightly more formal words for children. Their use might be preferred in situations where wed talk about a child in English rather than a boy or girl. For example, a school handout might say something such as Cada nià ±o debe leer un libro por mes for Each child should read one book per month. (Following the Spanish rule of gender, nià ±os can refer to a mixed group of boys and girls, not necessarily just boys. In sentences such as the above, the context suggests that cada nià ±o refers to each child, not necessarily just each boy.) Nià ±o is also used in situations where the speaker is referring to young age or inexperience in general. For example, a child soldier is a nià ±o soldado, and a street child is a nià ±o/a de la calle. Similarly, someone who is worse than a child is peor que un nià ±o - words such as chico and muchacho wouldnt work well in that context. Other Words Referring to Children Other words for talking about children include: Hijo and hija refer specifically to a son or daughter, respectively. Nià ±o/a can also be used with the same meaning if the context is clear.Criatura, a cognate of creature, is sometimes used an affectionate term. For example,  ¡Quà © criatura hermosa! might be translated loosely as What a beautiful little angel! Note that criatura is always feminine, even if it refers to a boy.Descendiente can be used as a replacement for hijo or hija; it is used much more than the English descendant. The word can be either masculine or feminine depending on whether it refers to a son or daughter. It can also refer to descendants such as great-grandchildren.Bebà © is the most common word for baby. Note that it is always masculine, even when referring to a girl.
